Learn More About Coaching & ConsultingQuality leaders are accountable for outcomes they are rarely empowered to shape. When quality is treated as a support function involved at the end of the manufacturing process, decisions about risk and value are made elsewhere.
Leading through quality closes that gap.
The 6 Traits define what quality business leadership looks like in practice.
They reflect the behaviors, paradigm shifts, decisions, and ways of thinking that emerge when quality is treated as a leadership discipline, not a reactive function. Together, they create a shared language for how quality engages with strategy, risk, and long-term value.
The 6 Traits form the foundation of the Quality Business Leadership certification and underpin all of the work across the QBL ecosystem.
From this shared framework, quality leadership can be developed at the individual, team, or organizational level.
Explore the 6 Traits
Throughout my career as a senior leader in Quality, I often saw Quality positioned as a compliance function, irrespective of company size and reporting lines.
Quality leaders carried deep expertise and accountability, yet were often excluded from the decisions that shaped business outcomes. The issue was not lack of interest or commitment. It was a system that did not appreciate the value quality can bring, a perception of Quality simply ensuring compliance and a system that kept quality, finance, and leadership operating in parallel rather than together.
When these worlds meet, the impact is undeniable. Quality shifts from reacting to problems to shaping decisions and generating value to the business through risk and waste reduction and process improvement.
Quality Business Leadership was created to make that connection consistent and practical. It provides a clear structure and a set of tools that brings quality, business thinking, and leadership together, so quality leaders can engage credibly, influence decisions, and lead where it matters most.
At its core, this work exists to unlock the full potential of quality leadership and help organizations build stronger, more resilient futures. Quality Business Leadership ends decades long reactive quality management and replaces it with leadership that makes quality a competitive advantage.
